These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: Proverbs 6:16
- The first three: Proverbs 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
- Four & five: Proverbs 6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
- Six: Proverbs 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
“These things which God hates, we must hate in ourselves; it is nothing to hate them in others. Let us shun all such practices, and watch and pray against them; and avoid, with marked disapproval, all who are guilty of them, whatever may be their rank.”–Matthew Henry. ¹
“Proudness is a feeling of deep pride, pleasure and satisfaction in one’s own or someone else’s achievements, qualities skills, potentials or possessions. Are you proud at all? If yes, then you’ve got to get rid of it (pride) and afterwards saturate yourself with humility. In case you don’t know—God opposes the proud. But guess what he gives more grace to…the humble.” (James 4: 6)–Emeasoba George.
